Chamber music visionaries, ambassadors, impresarios, and virtuosos—as co-directors of both Music at Menlo and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center–cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han are a ubiquitous presence on both coasts. The energy they bring to their leadership in the arts is matched only by the powerful synergy of their duo performances. These superb artists will perform sonatas by Debussy and Chopin as well as a rarely played sonata by Benjamin Britten composed for Mstislav Rostropovich.

Calidore String Quartet, winner of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, has been recognized for achieving an extraordinary cohesion of individual artistry and collective expression. Lauded by The Los Angeles Times for performances that are “astonishing…the kind of sublimity other quartets spend a lifetime searching for,” Calidore will perform two of the most compelling pieces in the string quartet repertoire: Shostakovich’s 8th quartet and Beethoven’s masterpiece, the Quartet in C-sharp Minor, Opus 131.

South Indian Carnatic classical music featuring Ganesh & Kumaresh, violins; Patri Satish Kumar, mridangam; Trichy S Krishnaswamy, ghatam. The only violin duo to have performed for more than four decades together, Ganesh and Kumaresh have carved a niche for Indian instrumental music with their impeccable and remarkable technique both in playing the instrument and in interpreting the musical forms. Their music is laden with virtuosity and brims with soul stirring creativity, soaked in classicism.
