How to File Your SAP Appeal
Access the Portal
- Log into and go to the Student Center
- Locate the “To Do List” and select the “More Link”
- Select the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeal Link
Create a Student Account, if not already created

When creating an account, use the student CSUS email. Make sure the information entered matches exactly what is on the financial aid application:
- First Name, Last Name
- Date of Birth
- Social Security Number (FAFSA filers); or
- California Dream ID (CADAA filers) - ID can be found on the
Once you have successfully created an account, any required tasks needed to complete will become available.
Access the SAP Appeal Web Form
- Select "Needs Action" list and click on the newly generated SAP Appeal Task.
- Select the “Fill Out” button to begin the appeal process
- Press the “Continue” button in the Demographics section of Student Forms
Complete the SAP Appeal Web Form
1. Appeal Information
- Review the appeal instructions and answer all questions thoroughly and accurately.
- Writing appeal statement: Detail the extenuating circumstances beyond your control that caused you to not meet SAP Standards (e.g., severe illness, death in the family, financial obligations, or personal tragedy).
- Once the Appeal has been completed, Click Continue.
2. Review the SAP Appeal Form
- Select the “Back” button if changes need to be made.
- If no changes, E-Sign the Appeal (with password) and select the E-Sign button.
- Read Terms and Conditions to Consent to Use of Electronic Signatures and select “Confirm”
3. Successfully E-Signed the Appeal
- A message will appear to confirm successful submission of appeal.
- The message will also indicate if any additional appeal tasks are requested.
- Select “OK” to be redirect back to current tasks.
4. Upload Supporting Documentation:
- The main appeal task screen is where to upload third-party documentation supporting the appeal statement (if requested).
- Examples of acceptable documentation include letters or records from doctors, therapists, lawyers, police reports, or death certificates.
- Upload a completed Academic Plan if requested as a task item (Over Unit Appeals Only).
5. Final Submission: Review all attached forms and uploads.
- Click the final Submit button to route the completed appeal to the Financial Aid Committee for review.

SAP Appeals are reviewed on a semester basis
Fall 2026
- Priority Appeal Deadline: October 23, 2026
- Final Fall Appeal Deadline: November 25, 2026
Students who miss the Fall deadline may submit a Spring appeal for Spring-only consideration.
Spring 2027
- Priority Appeal Deadline: March 19, 2027
- Final Spring Deadline: April 23, 2027
