Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I am excited to work as a PAL Facilitator because I want to share my passion for math and science. I want to help others succeed in difficult classes and achieve their goals. I understand math and science can be frustrating sometimes, but with a little guidance these subjects can actually be quite fun and interesting!

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my spare time I love to crochet, play with my crazy dog, or play basketball. I also enjoy watching movies and shows on Netflix.

I’m excited to work as a PAL Facilitator because I have the opportunity to help mentor students who are in the same position I was in starting STEM-based courses, asking for help can be intimidating but I’m hoping to make this process easier for students, and be there for them as needed.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? I enjoy going to the gym, snowboarding, sunset-watching at the lake, and coloring. Anything that includes being outside or challenges me!

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? I enjoy spending time outdoors, playing with my dog, and catching up with friends and family.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I am eager to help students along their academic journey. I am a firm believer that with focus, preparation, and resilience every student can succeed within their courses. I hope to serve as a positive example for students and want to show them that they can also have fun in the midst of challenges.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? I am a huge fan of everything movies and love going to the theater, grabbing some snacks, and immersing myself into whatever film I'm watching. Outside of movies, I really enjoy weightlifting, playing videogames, and spending time with those closest to me.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I am excited to work as a PAL Facilitator because I truly enjoy watching others succeed and know firsthand how challenging chemistry can be. I enrolled in a PAL class during my first year of college, and it made such a huge impact on my own learning. I hope to create a positive, welcoming environment where students feel supported and can build their confidence in Chem 1A!

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my spare time, I love spending quality time with friends and family, traveling, and staying active through running. I also enjoy painting my nails, listening to podcasts, and binge-watching my favorite TV shows!

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my spare time, I love to travel, hang out with friends and chill at home with my family.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? To be able to share a passion of science with others is so exciting! I look forward to watching people conquer the difficult study that is Chemistry and watching their confidence grow as they overcome these challenges. Anything can be learned as long as effort and practice is put in.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? I enjoy dancing and doing art when I get the chance! I also love playing video games but most of my spare time is spent studying. Such is the life of a college student.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator?​​ I am excited to work as a PAL facilitator because I enjoy the subject of Chemistry and I believe that other people can love it too if given the correct learning environment early on in their chemistry courses.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my spare time I like to read and play games with my friends and family.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? Working with Chem 4 students is such a privilege, it's amazing seeing how much they grow throughout the semester. Chem is such a hard subject and I love being a part of students' academic journey. I struggled so much with chem and making it to the other side and being able to help students is such a fulfilling experience. I truly love what PAL does and how hard we work to make STEM a fun and safe place full of support and collaboration.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? I love to read! I could spend all day in a book if you don't stop me. I also love to spend time with my little chihuahua. Her name is Beyblade and she is my baby! Please ask me to see pictures of her, she's so weird looking. Alongside that, I do embroidery and love to journal and collect fun stationery, you should see my pen collection!

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I am excited to be working as a PAL facilitator because it gives me an opportunity to help others where I struggled as well. As a biology major I had to take many chemistry classes that I struggled with, but with different studying methods, as well as PAL, it became one of my favorite subjects!

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? For fun, I like going to the gym, a nice hike, and mostly just spending quality time with friends and family!

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I am super excited to be working as a PAL facilitator because I love helping others understand chemistry, getting to know my peers more, and getting to create a comfortable space that everyone is welcome to join.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my free time, I enjoy swimming, photography, socializing with friends, being lazy, and watching anime.

Marissa Aiken

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I’m excited to work as a PAL facilitator to help other students succeed in different subjects. Science and math courses can be difficult so I’m looking forward to helping show others they can do difficult things and find success.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with friends, going to the beach, watching movies/TV shows and shopping. I also spend a lot of my spare time during the semester relaxing, spending time outside and catching up on sleep.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? As a returning facilitator, I really enjoyed helping students develop their science skills and want to continue to do that with chemistry! Lots of people think chemistry is really hard to get through, but I hope to make it fun and easy to learn for students. PAL has taught me so much and I want to continue to teach that to new students too, especially in a class like Chem 4 which may be an introduction classes to the sciences for students and encourage them to keep their track in STEM!

What do you like to do for fun in your spare time?I love to do so many things, especially spending time with my cat Miso! Something super cool is I've been a crocheter for about 3 years and love to make everything from plushies to clothes! I also love being outside from time to time and I get to do a lot of that on the field trips I go on as a Geology major! Sometimes they're just day trips but sometimes they're overnight which is a lot of fun!

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I wanted to join PAL because it helped me succeed in my classes, and I want to give other students the same support and positive learning experience that helped me.

What do you like to do for fun in your spare time? In my spare time, I enjoy readin g fiction books and watching movies from different parts of the world. It’s my way of exploring different stories and cultures.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I want to be a PAL facilitator because I know firsthand how helpful PAL can be. PAL made a big difference for me as a student, and I love the opportunity to help others in the same way. I understand what it feels like to be lost in a class, and having PAL was very encouraging and motivating. It helped me gain confidence and become a better student overall.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? Outside of school, I enjoy building LEGO sets, going to rock concerts, and collecting DVDs.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I'm excited to help my peers learn and tackle difficult topics, and I know for certain that in the process I can learn something too. I am also eager to take advantage of all the fun opportunities that the PAL program brings, especially meeting tons of people. Enrolling in a PAL class really helped me to succeed, and I hope I can provide that same experience as a facilitator.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? I enjoy playing video games, hanging out with friends, catching up with family, finding new music to listen to, and reading non-fiction books (though I have the habit of picking them up and never finishing them).

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I am excited to work as a PAL Facilitator because I want to be an individual who is able to help guide a student into the right path of thinking and problem solving. I want to provide an environment where they are able to feel supported and where they are able to gain a better understanding of the material. PAL is a place where students can see their learning process as an opportunity to gain more knowledge, confidence, and problem-solving skills in the STEM course they're taking. I'd like to see students grow and achieve their goals that they have for their Chemistry course.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? For fun, I like to go shopping and try out new food places with my family. In my spare time I like to play games like Minecraft with friends and family. I also really enjoy watching movies and chilling at home.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I’ve been a part of four PAL’s during my time at Sac State and experienced amazing support from both my peers and facilitators. As a PAL facilitator, I’m excited to see students succeed in their classes and create a positive learning environment.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? I love traveling, going to concerts, video editing, shopping, and playing games on my iPad in my spare time!

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I'm excited to work as a PAL Facilitator because I enjoy learning about the mechanisms and concepts in Organic Chemistry alongside my classmates. What really excites me is the opportunity to help other students build confidence and the skills needed to become independent learners. Although Organic Chemistry is known for being a challenging course, I hope to change that perception by creating a fun, welcoming, and supportive learning environment where everyone feels comfortable asking questions and leaning together!

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? I like to walk and play with my two dogs, play video games with my brothers, and enjoy spending time outdoors with my girlfriend. I also like to cook a variety of dishes for my family such as albondigas, spaghetti, salmon, and many more! Cooking in a kitchen reminds me a lot of being in a chemistry lab.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? I love to spend my free time with friends as well as listening to music, playing video games, and simply lying in bed!

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I'm excited to work as a PAL Facilitator because I enjoy helping students find a solution to a challenging topic. Chemistry, in general, is a tough concept to grasp but I hope that I can share what I've learned through my struggles in these classes with other students in order to make learning easier.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? During my spare time, I enjoy playing video games or hanging out with friends. If I'm not playing games, then I'm playing my violin or trying out a new recipe whether it's cooking or baking.

I love that through PAL, I can help aspiring STEM scholars build confidence in their critical thinking skills and grow into their potential so they feel empowered to make their dreams into reality.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? When I'm not on campus, I love spending time with my 5 dogs, picking up a book, and trying new restaurants!

I’m excited to work as a PAL Facilitator because I know how challenging science courses can be, and I want to help students build confidence while developing effective study strategies. Some of the biggest breakthroughs in my own learning came from working through difficult concepts with others, and I hope to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, collaborating, and realizing they're capable of succeeding.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my spare time, I love staying active and being outdoors. Whether it's snowboarding, weightlifting, running, hiking, camping, or exploring somewhere new, I'm happiest when I'm moving and trying new adventures. I also enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen until I perfect my favorite recipes.

I am excited to work as PAL Facilitator because I have the opportunity to mentor students in a way I needed when I was in a similar stage, both in their STEM-curriculum and their challenges in life to help them reach where they want to be, it does take effort from both sides but I do hope to ease the process into university and grow with them.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my free time, I love spending time outdoors, playing videogames, going to the gym and seeing friends since I value mental health just as much as physical health.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I am excited to be a PAL Facilitator to help cultivate a supportive environment for stem majors because it is such a rigorous path and having a good team and safe space to ask questions is the best way to succeed and help foster growth.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my spare time I like to read, build Lego sets, go to the movies with friends, rot in bed, annoy my cat (believe me she started it), and recently I've been on the lookout for the best chai.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I am excited to work as a PAL Facilitator because it gives me the opportunity to support and encourage other students while continuing to learn alongside them. I also look forward to collaborating with the PAL team, becoming good friends, and giving back to the program and people who have helped me throughout my own academic challenges.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? Some of the things that I like doing for fun during my free time is exploring more of downtown with my friends, drawing, playing games, and doing active activities.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my spare time, I like to do physical activities like hiking, snowboarding, boxing, or working out at the well or just going out with friends in general. When I'm at home I like to spend my time playing video games like Marvel Rivals or Sparking Zero.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I really have a strong passion in helping others on solving problems and achieving success. As my mom has told me, always help people if you can, you will receive something back. And I am here, with that message, to help you on any problems you might have with all my effort, and I will make sure you won't be behind on anything.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? I usually do a lot of exercising activities, such as bouldering, swimming, or doing gym, and bodybuilding is my main area. I am down to cafe-hopping, escape room, or any new experience.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my free time I love to try new activities like racquetball and snowboarding or spend a few too many hours playing video games.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I’m excited to work as a PAL facilitator because I love talking about and practicing mathematical concepts. I’m also excited to get to know more students and help them study and become more confident in their math skills. Being a math teacher or professor at some point in my future is a goal of mine, so I’m excited to get a feeling for what it’s like directing and helping students.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my free time I like to read, draw/paint, and hang out with friends. I like reading sci-fi, non-fiction (political science, history, or science) and classics. With my friends I like playing video games, watching movies, and touching grass.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I am excited to work as a PAL Facilitator because I help as many students as I can with achieving their academic goals. Going into Math 30, I was very nervous about the material that would be covered in the class and thought that I would get a low grade. However, enrolling in a PAL really helped me understand the material and the facilitator's method of assisting students really resonated with me. Now that I am a PAL Facilitator, I am excited to encourage students to work hard and to connect with their peers in order to succeed in their academic journeys!

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? I like to do various things in my spare time. Sometimes I like to hop in a call with my friends and play video games, listen to music, and sometimes I like to talk and hang out with my family and relax.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? Despite what the face in my photo might imply, I'm quite excited to work as a PAL Facilitator since I'll be helping students pass the very difficult path that is Math 31. Plus, I get to practice my Socratic dialogue skills.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? Considering that I'm a walking, talking chatter box, going out with friends, acquaintances, and strangers is always a tremendous pleasure. Aside from that, I'm very fond of the movie theatre experience, playing the guitar, the gym, and cooking traditional Colombian snacks.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I am excited to be a PAL Facilitator because it will be a great opportunity to help other students while simultaneously developing my own skills. I have a love for statistics and mathematics and want to impart that passion onto others. Most importantly, I want to see other students succeed. To me, that success is not measured purely by a letter grade, but instead by a student's perseverance in the face of challenges. My goal is not just to make students more comfortable with the material covered in STATS 50; I also want to lessen the stress associated with statistics and mathematics and help students realize their full potential.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? When I am not studying or working, I enjoy gardening, fishing, hiking, and spending time with my family. I also like watching baseball, sumo wrestling, and nature documentaries.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? As a PAL facilitator, I’m most looking forward to meeting students and watching their growth over the semester we have together. This program has helped me thrive in my classes, and I am eager to be able to help others. I’ve seen how PAL builds community, as students bond over a subject’s challenges and other shared experiences. I am so excited to be a part of such a supportive environment!

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? I consider myself a matcha enthusiast and love making lattes at home. I enjoy going to the beach and taking care of all of my fish. I like low stress games like Animal Crossing and Roblox. I am currently on a journey to try every cafe in Sacramento to see which one is the best!

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I'm excited to be a PAL Facilitator because I enjoy helping other students build confidence in subjects that can seem challenging at first. I am also excited for the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with students and fellow facilitators throughout my time in the program.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? For fun, I primarily enjoy weightlifting, golfing, and gaming.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I am excited to work as a PAL facilitator because I want to help students succeed. I came from a poor academic background which led me to learn how to do everything independently. But I want to encourage students by giving them the tools to be the best academic weapon they can be. I know this course can be hard, but I want to give students helpful study habits that can be used to flourish in BIO 25.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? For fun, I love going to the gym. I have been a big gym rat since high school and love pushing myself to the limits. I also love going shopping and hanging out with friends.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I am most excited to be a PAL Facilitator because, as a kid from a first-generation background, I know how important it is to have support from someone who understands. As a first-generation student, I was only able to rely on myself. However, as a former PAL student, I know how beneficial having a community behind you can be, and I want others like me to be able to take advantage of what Sac State offers and know that they aren’t alone. College is hard, but we don’t have to go through it by ourselves; we are here for a reason, and we deserve to be in this space. We have to support our own!

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my free time, I like to do a little bit of everything, but as of late, I like staying in, reading a good romance book with a cup of coffee (currently obsessed with one of Lyla Sage’s series!!). If I’m not reading, I also like chilling in my room and listening to my Bay Area rap music like Mike Sherm, Shoreline, etc. #yayarea

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I am excited to work as a PAL Facilitator because I want to help students find study habits that work best for them. In high school, I was never the most academically gifted. However, that wasn’t until I joined PAL, where I discovered different study methods that suited my learning style.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my spare time, I love doing physical activities like hiking, rock climbing, and MMA.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I used to struggle in the science classes I have taken in the past. If you asked highschooler me about subjects I was good at, I would've never said science. After taking a few PAL classes, I found a passion for learning and became confident in myself. The biggest help to me was studying and learning with other people. I became a PAL facilitator because I want to help other students who have felt the same way, also find enjoyment in these subjects.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? I love playing video games or watching shows and movies when I have free time. My favorite TV shows are The Office and Gossip Girl. I'm not from Sacramento, so I also like exploring town and finding new restaurants and cafes to try. Reading, scrapbooking, and drawing are some of my other hobbies as well.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I am excited to work with students as a PAL Facilitator to help them achieve their academic goals. As a former PAL student, I am inspired by my facilitator to create an environment that stimulates learning and growth. I want to allow students to make connections with the difficult concepts of BIO 131 and be able to carry on those techniques into additional courses. Being able to watch my students succeed and start understanding the material is my goal!

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? I like to do a lot of things in my spare time! During the winter I like to go ice skating with my friends and snowboarding with my family. I enjoy exploring nature through hiking, rock climbing, and swimming. Indoors I like to just relax in bed, watching movies and shows, reading a book, or be on facetime with friends

Why are you excited to work as a PAL Facilitator? I’m really excited to become a PAL Facilitator because, when I took a challenging course, my PAL facilitator was always there to support me. They helped make a difficult class feel much more manageable and enjoyable. That experience showed me how much of a difference having someone in your corner can make. I’m excited for the opportunity to provide that same support and encouragement to students who may be struggling with a course they’re genuinely interested in but find confusing or overwhelming.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my free time, I really enjoy reading, baking, watching TV shows, exploring cute cafés with my friends, and spending time with my family.
