Advising for Environmental Studies Students
Fall 2026 ENVS Advising
Please use the EAB scheduling tool (instructions below) to make an appointment with your assigned ENVS Advisor (by student's last name).
ENVS majors and minors should meet with an ENVS Advisor at least once a year for advising regarding course selections and any other major-related issues. To schedule an appointment please use the online appointment scheduling tool EAB (instructions below). Most ENVS Advisors have the option for in-person and Zoom appointments.

Approvals for a Declaration or Change of Major/Minor, Course Transfer, Course Substitution, Course Waiver require meeting with the appropriate ENVS Advisor.

Hello SSIS College students,
The College of Social Sciences & Interdisciplinary Studies Student Success Center (SSC) engages students through an advising model that is proactive, comprehensive, and holistic. The student success team is comprised of professional advisors, graduate counseling interns, peer success leaders, and Faculty Fellows who are located in various departments across campus. The student success team works collaboratively to promote retention and timely degree completion.
Student Success Center Services, including but not limited to:
- General Education (GE) and Graduation Requirements (GR) Advising
- Expressed Interest (EI) Psychology advising
- Course and academic planning using the Smart Planner
- Interpretation of University academic policies
- Basic career exploration and planning
- Academic probation, disqualification and dismissal advising
- GPA calculation
- Referrals to campus resources and faculty advisors

If a class is “full”, but it appears there are seats available, keep checking back. Or, show-up on the 1st day of instruction (email Instructor for online sections). Waitlist are deleted on Sunday before 1st day of instruction and graduating seniors have enrollment priority.
ENVS 112
You must have a passing WPJ score on your student record. There is no exception or override option to this rule. We advise that you complete your WPJ before your Junior year.

If you have a WPJ score on your student record and can’t enroll in ENVS 112 please submit an OnBase add request and attach a screenshot of your WPJ score.
ENVS 120
STATS I or the equivalent is a pre-requisite for this course. If you do not have a STATS I on your course history please email the Instructor. They may ask you about an equivalent course that will give you the necessary background to succeed in the class. The Instructor will either instruct you to submit an OnBase Add form (preferred) or they may email the ENVS office to enroll you.
Any Electives That Have Pre-Requisites
Email the Instructor, and if they approve your entry in to the class, they will either instruct you to submit the OnBase add form (preferred) or they will email the ENVS office to enroll you.
ENVS 190 – Thesis (Effective Fall 2024)
You must meet with your assigned Academic Advisor (based on your last name - see list above) to determine your readiness to enroll in ENVS 190 Thesis. Your advisor will notify the ENVS office to manually enroll you. A passing grade in ENVS 112 is a pre-requisite for ENVS 190. If you need to take ENVS 112 concurrently be sure to discuss with your Advisor.
ENVS 195 – Internship
Be sure to discuss your preparedness to enroll in ENVS 195 Internship with your ENVS Academic Advisor during a routine advising appointment. When you are ready to be enrolled in ENVS 195 Internship, review the ENVS 195 syllabus to familiarize yourself with the course requirements. Once you have obtained an Internship then contact the instructor, Dr. Wayne Linklater to discuss approval of your Internship and other requirements. After you meet with the Dr. Linklater you will be manually enrolled by the ENVS office.
NOTE: If you do not have an approved internship by the semester Census Date, you will be dropped from the course. If you have concerns about not having an internship by Census Date please discuss with Dr. Linklater.

- Course Substitution (Substituting a course of equivalent value taking at another Institution for a Sac State course) - By appointment only with an Academic Advisor who will access the OnBase Form
