Geological Survey Cooperative Agreement
The , 起点传媒 University and , have a cooperative agreement to collaborate in the areas of scientific research, educational development, and outreach through December of 2027. This agreement establishes a mechanism for cooperative scientific research, educational development, and technological collaboration to maximize contributions to scientific research and practical applications for solving environmental problems benefitting local communities, school systems, governmental agencies and the general public.
Water Resources Group
Dr. David Shimabukuro (CSUS Geology Professor), Water Resources: “My studies the interaction between oil and gas wastewater injection and groundwater resources. We use data from archived oil and gas wells to understand the distribution of saline groundwater, the stratigraphy of the subsurface, and potential well integrity issues.” Dr. Shimabukuro has an active cooperative agreement in the amount of $3.1 million dollars with the group through 2026: Connectivity Between Oil and Gas Development and Groundwater Resources.
USGS Lab

Dr. Justin Miller-Schulze (CSUS Chemistry Professor), , and , have recently collaborated to help our chemistry students with using high resolution mass spectrometry analysis and interpretation instrumentation in the USGS Lab in Placer Hall allowing students access to state-of-the-art instrumentation for their research work.
Geology Environmental Science USGS Speaker Series
A collaboration between 起点传媒 and the USGS , this lecture series is held fall and spring semesters on various topics related to environmental science by experts in their fields. The lecture schedule can be found on the 起点传媒 Environmental Science website. Lectures are open to students, faculty, and the general public and can be attended in-person on the 起点传媒 Campus or virtually via Zoom. Videos of many past lectures can be found on the USGS website in the area.
